Training Class  Descriptions

These training classes have been designed to serve people with addictive diseases and mental health challenges. This program combines spiritual intelligence education with a supportive community to empower participants to construct personal meaning and purpose in all physical and mental experiences, including the capacity to create and master a purposeful life.

Spiritual Intelligence Training

1.1 Concepts of Spiritual Intelligence: This class introduces the concept of spiritual intelligence (SQ) and confirms it as meeting the established criteria for intelligence. Participants will explore the core components and characteristics of SQ as competencies, examine the benefits and outcomes of understanding and applying SQ to recovery from addictive disease and mental health challenges.  


1.2 Spiritual Intelligence in Recovery: This class explores the connection between spiritual intelligence and addiction recovery. Participants will learn how SQ can support the recovery process, explore practical strategies for applying SQ principles in daily life, and discuss the role of spirituality (distinct from religion) in achieving and maintaining recovery. 


1.3 Foundation for Creating a Meaningful Life: This class focuses on defining meaning and purpose within the context of recovery. Participants will identify personal values and beliefs that contribute to a meaningful life, explore various sources of meaning and purpose, and begin to articulate a personal vision for a fulfilling life in recovery. 


1.4 Exploring Work as Calling: This class differentiates between a job, a career, and a calling. Participants will explore the concept of "work as calling," examining its potential benefits and also recognizing its potential pitfalls. They will identify personal interests, skills, and values that align with potential callings and discuss the role of work in contributing to a purposeful life. 


1.5 Setting Intentions for a Purposeful Life: This class defines intentions and their importance in achieving goals. Participants will examine the seasonal aspects of purpose in life, learn to create a plan for implementing their intentions, and identify potential obstacles along with strategies for overcoming them.

2.1 Assessing Innate Talents (Strengths): This class focuses on identifying and assessing personal strengths and talents. Participants will utilize various tools and techniques for strengths assessment, understand the importance of leveraging strengths in personal and professional life, and explore how these strengths can contribute to recovery and a sense of purpose.

2.2 Assessing Passions and Desires: This class guides participants in identifying and exploring personal passions and desires. Through reflection on past experiences and interests, participants will uncover potential passions, understand their role in creating a fulfilling life, and connect these passions to potential callings and purposeful activities.

2.3 Examining the Interplay between Strengths and Passions: This class analyzes the relationship between strengths and passions. Participants will explore how to integrate these elements for greater fulfillment, identify opportunities to utilize strengths in pursuing passions, and develop strategies for aligning them with life goals.

2.4 Setting Clear Goals in Recovery: This class defines goals and their importance in the recovery process. Participants will develop SMART goals related to recovery, personal growth, and purpose, create a plan for achieving these goals, and identify potential challenges along with developing coping mechanisms.

2.5 Mastering a Purposeful Life: This class explores what it means to master a purposeful life. Participants will develop strategies for maintaining purpose and direction beyond recovery, explore the importance of ongoing personal growth and development, and discuss the role of community and support in sustaining a purposeful life.
